Carolyne Thornton
Hi and thanks for visiting Ruby Lime Design. I have always loved art and being creative. I am originally from Newcastle, N.S.W. and have been fortunate to live in several inspiring places in Australia including Kakadu National Park, N.T., Karratha in NW W.A., and now in Tannum Sands, QLD. I have been lucky to spend a lot of time in Asia for travel, study and work and Thailand, Taiwan and Indonesia have influenced certain styles in my past and present art and creative designs. I have not had any formal training in art except for a drawing unit at Tafe but have been to a lot of different art classes in Australia and Taiwan and participated in art exhibitions in the N.T and W.A.
I love being creative and making a wide range of products and have been lucky to meet like-minded friends in Tannum Sands. Inspired by each other and sharing a love of art and creativity, a group of us got together here in Tannum Sands to form ‘Pod Collective’ (People of Design). Pod Collective started as a casual monthly get together with artistic challenges. We then started markets and had a successful art exhibition and now we have a shop where we display and sell our art and designs at Boyne Island. Last year I was very fortunate to win the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery Martin Hanson Local Artist Award for a mixed media collage I made. My goal is to make interesting and unique products that are affordable for everyone. I am inspired by just about anything and love trying out new techniques and products. Having this online shop allows me to satisfy my obsession with beautiful fabrics, sewing, art and craft and to work from home. I have a wonderful family who support me and help me achieve my goals and I am very lucky to be a work at home mum where I can be there for my family as well as having a small business and doing what I love.
